Bohemian Barranco is among Lima’s premier districts. Situated on the cliff tops at the southern end of the bay of Lima, its unique microclimate offers some respite from the humidity of the rest of Lima, particularly during the months of May to October. Barranco is home to some of the capital’s finest art galleries including MATE (Photographer Mario Testino’s gallery), The Pedro de Osma Museum, and Galleria Lucia de la Puente which is just next door to our hotel. Barranco is the perfect location for a hotel in Lima, close to all tourist facilities whilst maintaining a strong local culture in this vibrant and bohemian district.

With Peruvian food in the international spotlight for the best part of the last decade, Barranco is also home to the famed Chala and Cala restaurants, and many of Lima’s finest restaurants including Astrid and Gaston and Central are just minutes away from our centrally located property. Barranco is a fantastic district to explore on foot, and we offer orientation walks departing from our hotel at 5pm daily, taking in some of Barranco’s famed sites including a walk along the Malecon with stunning Pacific Ocean views. Central Barranco is a short stroll away and home to some impressive and well-preserved historical homes, churches and a vibrant plaza with resident artists and food stalls. Barranco is also home to some of Lima’s most unique boutique shopping, with designer brands and handicraft stores spread throughout the district. The fantastic Dedalo gallery and cafe is located across the street from Casa Republica.

Barranco as a district came to light in the early part of the 20th century as a seaside resort for the wealthy aristocracy in Lima. During this “Republican era” our house was constructed. We continue with the Republican theme throughout the home and welcome you to come and celebrate Lima and Barranco’s unique history and charm at our property.
